  4. Return the soup to the pot and stir in the heavy cream, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let the soup rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  6. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and serve hot.
