Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9-inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, combine oats, flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar. Stir in molasses, egg, and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well. Stir in hot water.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the gingerbread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
