  2. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  4. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
