Ingredients
  • 1.5 cup Cornmeal
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 2 Eggs
  • 4 tablespoon Unsalted butter
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and place a cast iron skillet in the oven to heat.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and eggs.
  4. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven and add the butter, swirling it around until melted and coating the bottom of the skillet.
  6. Pour the batter into the hot skillet and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cornbread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cornbread to cool in the skillet for 10 minutes before serving.
