Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and dark chocolate together.

In a separate bowl, dissolve the instant coffee in 2 tablespoons of hot water.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted chocolate mixture, coffee, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.

Sift in the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir until well combined.

If desired, fold in the walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
