  1. In a large bowl, combine flour and granulated sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, whisk together egg yolks, milk, and almond extract. Gradually add to flour mixture, tossing with a fork until dough forms a ball.
  2. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead 8-10 times. Roll into a 16x10-inch rectangle. Crumble marzipan over dough to within 1 inch of edges. Roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side; pinch seam to seal. Place seam side down on a greased baking sheet; shape into a ring. Pinch ends together to seal. With scissors, cut from outside edge two-thirds of the way toward center of ring at 1-inch intervals. Separate strips slightly; twist to allow filling to show, slightly overlapping previous strip. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar and sprinkle with almonds. Serve warm or at room temperature.
