  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, milk, and melted butter.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for about 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough and drop it into the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  7. Remove the malasadas from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  8. Roll the malasadas in powdered sugar while they are still warm.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
