Ingredients
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 2 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Raisins
  • 2 tablespoon Unsalted butter
  • to taste for dusting Powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Cut the French bread into cubes and place them in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a saucepan, heat the milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs. Slowly pour the milk mixture into the beaten eggs, whisking constantly.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes in the baking dish. Press the bread cubes down to make sure they are soaked in the mixture.
  6. Sprinkle raisins over the top and dot with unsalted butter.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the pudding is set and golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
