Ingredients
  • 1 box Yellow cake mix
  • 1 package Lemon gelatin mix
  • 1.5 cup Boiling water
  • 1 cup Cold water
  • 0.5 cup Lemon juice
  • 1 container Whipped topping
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon zest
  • optional for garnish Lemon slices
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the yellow cake mix according to package directions. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 30 minutes.
  4. Remove cake from the oven and poke holes all over the top using a fork or straw.
  5. In a small bowl, dissolve lemon gelatin mix in boiling water. Stir in cold water and lemon juice. Pour mixture over the warm cake, making sure to fill the holes.
  6. Refrigerate cake for at least 2 hours to allow the gelatin to set.
  7. Spread whipped topping over the cooled cake. Sprinkle with lemon zest.
  8. Garnish with lemon slices, if desired.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
