In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice. Mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk. Stir in the vanilla extract and chopped pecans.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
