Ingredients
  • 500 gram Leeks
  • 50 gram Butter
  • 50 gram All-purpose flour
  • 500 milliliter Milk
  • 150 gram Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Nutmeg, grated
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Trim the leeks, remove the tough outer leaves, and cut them into 2-inch pieces.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, making sure there are no lumps.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes, until thickened.
  6. Stir in the grated cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  7. Season with salt, black pepper, and grated nutmeg.
  8. Add the leeks to the cheese sauce and stir to coat.
  9. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake for 20 minutes, until the leeks are tender and the top is golden brown.
  10. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
