Graham crackers were originally invented by Sylvester Graham in the early 19th century as part of a health movement. They were originally called ‘Graham bread’ and were meant to be a bland diet food to suppress carnal urges.

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, graham flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, cream together unsalted butter and honey until smooth.
  3. Add vanilla extract and milk to the butter mixture, and mix well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  5. Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a flattened rectangle. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8-inch thickness.
  8. Cut the dough into desired shapes, place on the prepared baking sheet, and sprinkle with granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Allow the graham crackers to cool completely before serving.
