Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the almond extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle sliced almonds evenly over the batter.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.
