Ingredients
  • 1000 gram Potatoes
  • 1 medium-sized Onion
  • 2 clove Garlic
  • 3 tablespoon Butter
  • 3 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 2 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh thyme
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and thinly slice the potatoes.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and fresh thyme.
  7. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes.
  8. Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes and cheese sauce.
  9. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
  11. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
