  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition.
  5. In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the cake batter.
