Ingredients
  • 2 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Food Coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon Peppermint Extract
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, salt, and red food coloring. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add the flour to the mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Divide the dough into two equal portions. Add peppermint extract to one portion and mix well.
  6. Roll out each portion of dough into a long rope shape.
  7. Twist the two ropes together to form a candy cane shape.
  8. Place the cookie candy canes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  11. While still warm, dust the cookie candy canes with powdered sugar.
  12. Allow to cool completely before serving.
