  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoon Cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 3 tablespoon Maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoon Orange zest
  • 1/2 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and orange zest. Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are slightly soft.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
