Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.

Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes.

Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and chopped nuts (if using) over the top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown.

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for 30 minutes before cutting into squares.
