Ingredients
  • 2 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup Hot Water
  • 1 cup (Optional) Whipped Cream
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. In a small saucepan, heat the hot water until hot but not boiling. Pour the hot water over the batter in the cake pan.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Serve the chocolate hot milk sponge cake with whipped cream, if desired.
