Chocolate chip cookies were invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938. She added chopped chocolate to her cookie dough, expecting it to melt and create chocolate cookies. Instead, the chocolate stayed in the dough, resulting in the creation of the first chocolate chip cookies!

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are crisp.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
