  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Mix well.
  2. Add warm water and melted butter to the bowl. Mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. In a large pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil.
  7. Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces and roll each piece into a long rope.
  8. Shape each rope into a pretzel shape and place them on a baking sheet.
  9. Carefully drop each pretzel into the boiling water for 30 seconds, then remove and place back on the baking sheet.
  10. Sprinkle pretzels with coarse salt.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. Allow the pretzels to cool for a few minutes before serving.
