Baked Doughnuts
Doughnuts are believed to have originated in the Netherlands and were brought to America by Dutch settlers. The traditional doughnut shape with a hole in the center was created in the mid-19th century to ensure the doughnuts cooked evenly throughout.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a doughnut pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter over low heat until the butter is melted. Remove from heat.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.

Spoon the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the doughnuts are golden.

Allow the doughnuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once the doughnuts have cooled, dust them with powdered sugar.
