Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cut the bread into cubes and set aside.

Peel and dice the apples.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.

Add the bread cubes and diced apples to the milk mixture and stir until well combined.

Grease a baking dish with butter and pour the bread pudding mixture into it.

Dot the top of the pudding with small pieces of butter.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the pudding is set and golden brown.
