  1. Boil the potatoes until tender, then mash them.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk, butter, sugar, and salt until the butter melts.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the mashed potatoes, milk mixture, egg, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  6. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  7. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  8. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.
  9. Cover the rolls with a clean towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  11. Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
