Ingredients
  • 2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Almond extract
  • 1/4 cup Sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon Almond extract
  • 2 tablespoon Milk
Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and almond extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch (6 mm) thickness.
  8. Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top of each cookie and lightly press them into the dough.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  11. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, and milk until smooth and creamy.
  13. Once the cookies are completely cooled, spread the buttercream frosting on top of each cookie.
  14. Allow the frosting to set before serving.
